Dreams and Reality

When I walked, that lonely trail
There were two pairs of footprints
Left behind me...

When I lulled myself to sleep,
I felt your soft embrace;
It was as if you were beside me...

Vainly, I thought, you
Were mine to keep.
Oddly, the thought has
Just pierced me so deep;

I didn't take long,
I realized the truth
It was all an illusion,
Just a make-believe fiction;

Those were just lies
No matter how hard I try
And make myself believe
It never happened
it never will...

It is simply a strand of reality
which I desperately
Cling on to.
